The Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating sets you apart from other dive instructors by showing your commitment to continuing your dive training and being prepared to help others continue their training as well. You also get to teach specialty diver courses – which opens the door to lots of fun while working.

Certification Requirements

• PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor

• PADI Specialty Instructor for 5 PADI Specialty Diver courses

• Have certified 25 PADI divers

NOTE: Specialty Instructor training can be conducted concurrent with your Instructor Development (IDC) course or your Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) course, so that you can immediately submit your Specialty Instructor applications as soon as you complete your Instructor Exam (IE) and meet any minimum dive requirements for your specialties.

How to Apply

After you complete the certification requirements above, you apply to PADI for your Master Scuba Diver Trainer certification.

The PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) Prep course, which consists of training for 5 PADI Specialty Instructor courses, can be conducted concurrent with or after your PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor training course is completed.
