PADI Tec Instructor Course

Overview

Dive more, have more fun by teaching entry-level technical diving courses. PADI Tec Instructor courses provide valuable teaching tips for meeting the requirements of entry-level technical diving training in the PADI Tec 40 course.

PADI Tec Instructor training covers how to organize, promote and conduct the PADI Tec 40 technical diving course and emphasizes the value of learning to conduct limited decompression dives safely & confidently.

Course Prerequisites

• PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI)

• PADI Enriched Air Nitrox Instructor or have completed PADI Enriched Air Nitrox Instructor training

• PADI Deep Diver Instructor or have completed PADI Deep Diver Instructor training

• Have a minimum of 100 logged dives, where at least 20 dives were made with enriched air nitrox, 25 dives were deeper than 18m/60ft and at least 15 dives were deeper than 30m/100ft

• PADI Tec 40 instructor & student equipment requirements

• How to conduct the PADI Tec 40 course so that student divers can meet all performance requirements

Performance Requirements

PADI Tec Instructor course training is typically conducted conducted with a combination of classroom sessions and practical application workshops, followed by confined water and open water training dives. To achieve PADI Tec Instructor certification, you will need to:

Part 1

• Completing the PADI Tec 40 Knowledge Reviews

• Successfully completing the PADI Tec 40 & Tec 45 final exams

• Successfully complete PADI Tec 40 Practical Application One and PADI Tec 45 Practical Application Three

• Successfully complete PADI Tec 40 Training Dive One and PADI Tec 45 Training Dives Three and Four

Part 2

• Successfully complete the required Waterskills Development evaluation

• Present a knowledge development presentation from the PADI Tec 40 course

• Prepare and evaluate the dive planning portion of Tec 40 Practical Application Two

• Simulate teaching two skills from Tec 40 Training Dive One in confined water or limited open water

• Prepare and evaluate the dive planning portion of Tec 40 Practical Application Three

• Simulate teaching two skills from Tec 40 Training Dives Two and Three in open water

• Successfully complete the Tec Instructor exams

Certification Requirements

Before submitting your Tec Instructor application to PADI, you must meet the following requirements:

• Be a renewed PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer or PADI Instructor with a higher rating

• Be a PADI Enriched Air Instructor

• Be a PADI Deep Diver Specialty Instructor

• Be certified as a DSAT Tec 45 Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization

• Have a minimum of 20 stage decompression dives

• Successfully completed the Tec Instructor Standards Exam and Tec Instructor Theory and Practical Application Exam
