PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy

Experience weightless, effortless diving! What is neutral buoyancy? Scuba divers like to be neutrally buoyant so they neither sink nor float. It can be a tricky thing. Divers who’ve mastered the highest performance levels in buoyancy stand apart. You’ve seen them underwater. They glide effortlessly, use less air and ascend, descend or hover, almost as if by thought. They interact gently with aquatic life and affect their surroundings minimally.

Course Prerequisites

• PADI Open Water Diver, PADI Junior Open Water Diver or equivalent

• Minimum age 10

What You Will Learn

The PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy course refines the basic skills you learned as a PADI Open Water Diver and elevates them to the next level. During the Peak Performance Buoyancy course, you will learn how to ...

• Trim your scuba gear so you’re perfectly balanced in the water

• Determine proper weighting so you’re not too light nor too heavy by even a slight degree

• Streamline to save air and move smoothly through the water

• Hover effortlessly in both a vertical position and a horizontal position

Performance Requirements

PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy specialty course certification training is typically conducted at the dive site or on the dive boat. To achieve certification, you will need to:

• Read the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy booklet, watch the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy video and complete the Peak Performance Buoyancy Knowledge Review provided by your instructor.

• Complete (2) Peak Performance Buoyancy training dives with a PADI Instructor.

Course Format

PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy specialty courses are typically conducted at local dive sites. Your two Peak Performance Buoyancy specialty training dives can be completed in one day.

Course Schedule & Cost

PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy specialty courses are conducted through the dive stores that I work with, including VIP Diving. Please check their websites for the most current PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy training schedule and course costs.
