PADI Tec Deep Instructor Course

 

Overview

Dive more, have more fun by teaching technical diving courses. The PADI Tec Deep Instructor course provides valuable teaching tips for meeting the requirements of technical diving training in the PADI Tec 40, Tec 45 & Tec 50 courses.

 

PADI Tec Deep Instructor training covers how to organize, promote and conduct the PADI Tec 40, Tec 45 & Tec 50 technical diving courses and emphasizes the value of learning to conduct multi-gas, accelerated decompression dives safely & confidently.

 

Course Prerequisites

• PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (or a PADI Instructor with a higher rating)

• PADI Enriched Air Nitrox Instructor or have completed PADI Enriched Air Nitrox Instructor training

• PADI Deep Diver Instructor or have completed PADI Deep Diver Instructor training

• Have a minimum of 100 logged dives, where at least 20 dives were made with enriched air nitrox, 25 dives were deeper than 18m/60ft and at least 15 dives were deeper than 30m/100ft

   NOTE: Certification as a DSAT Tec 50 diver is not required ... if the candidate is not certified as a Tec 50 diver (or qualifying certification from another organization), then the Tec Deep Instructor training course must include the entire Tec 50 Diver course

 

What You Will Learn

The Tec Deep Instructor course covers:

• PADI Tec 40, Tec 45 & Tec 50 course purpose & goals

• PADI Tec 40, Tec 45 & Tec 50 course standards & procedures, including instructor & student prerequisites, supervision & ratios

• PADI Tec 40, Tec 45 & Tec 50 instructor & student equipment requirements

• How to conduct the PADI Tec 40, Tec 45 & Tec 50 courses so that student divers can meet all performance requirements

 

Performance Requirements

PADI Tec Deep Instructor course training is typically conducted with multiple classroom sessions and practical application workshops, combined with confined water and open water training dives. To achieve PADI Tec Deep Instructor certification, you will need to:

 

Part 1

• Complete the PADI Tec 40, Tec 45 & Tec 50 Knowledge Reviews

• Successfully complete the PADI Tec 40, Tec 45 & Tec 50 final exams

• Successfully complete PADI Tec 40 Practical Application One, PADI Tec 45 Practical Application Three and PADI Tec 50 Practical Applications Two & Three

• Successfully complete PADI Tec 40 Training Dive One, PADI Tec 45 Training Dives Three & Four and PADI Tec 50 Training Dives Two & Four

 

Part 2

• Successfully complete the required Waterskills Development evaluation

• Present two knowledge development presentations from the PADI Tec 40, Tec 45 or Tec 50 courses

• Prepare and evaluate the dive planning portion of Tec 40 Practical Application Two

• Simulate teaching two skills - one from Tec 40 Training Dive One and one from Tec 45 Training Dive One - in confined water or limited open water

• Prepare and evaluate the dive planning portion of Tec 45 Practical Application Three

• Simulate teaching two skills - one from Tec 40 Training Dive Two and one from Tec 45 Training Dive Three or Tec 50 Training Dive Two - in open water

• Successfully complete the Tec Deep Instructor exams

 

Certification Requirements

Before submitting your Tec Instructor application to PADI, you must meet the following requirements:

• Be a renewed PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer or PADI Instructor with a higher rating

• Be a PADI Enriched Air Instructor

• Be a PADI Deep Diver Specialty Instructor

• Be certified as a DSAT Tec 50 Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization

• Have assisted with at least one DSAT Tec 50 course or one Tec 45 course

   Note: Completing the Tec Deep Instructor training course credits as having assisted a Tec 50 diver course

• Have a minimum of 270 dives logged, with at least 25 stage decompression dives that had a maximum depth deeper than 40 metres/130 fee

• Have certified a combined total of ten or more PADI Deep Divers and/or PADI Enriched Air Divers

• Successfully completed the Tec Deep Instructor Standards Exam and Tec Deep Instructor Theory and Practical Application Exam

• Meet the peer review waterskill requirements listed on the Tec Deep Instructor Application through the attesting signature of a Tec Deep Instructor or a PADI Instructor with a qualifying rating from another training organization
