PADI Tec 45 Diver

Ready to further explore the world of technical diving ... continue your training with PADI Tec 45! The PADI Tec 45 course is the second level of training in the PADI Tec Diver training program. You’ll extend your depth limit to 145ft/45m and learn to plan & execute repetitive decompression dives using a single stage/decompression cylinder. It puts you in a complete tec diving rig. You’ll also make accelerated decompression dives using nitrox or pure oxygen.

This is a course where you’ll rise to the challenge and make the commitment to become a technical diver. A PADI Tec 45 diver is qualified to:

• Make single and repetitive dives to a maximum depth of 145ft/45m

• Use a single decompression gas of nitrox or oxygen to accelerate or add conservatism to the decompression.

NOTE: The PADI Tec 45 course is conducted in full technical diving gear.

Course Prerequisites

• Certified as a Tec 40 diver or provide a qualifying certification from another training organization

• Certified as a PADI Rescue Diver or provide a qualifying certification from another training organization ... students who meet this prerequisite through a qualifying certification must provide proof of training in CPR & First Aid within the previous two years

• Minimum age 18

• Minimum of at least 50 logged dives with at least 12 dives using enriched air (nitrox) deeper than 60ft/18m and at least 6 dives deeper than 100ft/30m (with or without nitrox)

What You Will Learn

During the Tec 45 course, you will learn how to conduct decompression diving in full technical diving gear and using a single decompression gas (nitrox or oxygen) to accelerate decompression, including:

• Full technical diving equipment requirements, including issues & philosophies

• Gas planning, including working & decompression SAC rates, CNS & pulmonary oxygen limits & gas supply requirements

• Turn points & environmental variables

• Team diving

• Thinking like a technical diver

• Emergency procedures

• Accelerated decompression & deep stops

• Decompressing in currents, including deployment of lift bag or DSMB

Performance Requirements

PADI Tec 45 course training is typically conducted with 3 classroom training sessions and 3 practical application sessions, followed by 4 open water training dives. There are reading assignments & Knowledge Reviews required to be completed prior to the start of the Tec 45 course. To achieve certification, you will need to:

• Complete the Tec 45 reading assignments & Knowledge Reviews provided by your Tec 45 instructor.

• Complete (3) classroom training sessions with your Tec 45 instructor & successfully complete the Tec 45 final exam.

• Complete (3) Tec 45 practical application sessions with your Tec 45 instructor.

• Complete (4) Tec 45 training dives with your Tec 45 instructor.

Course Format

The PADI Tec 45 course is typically conducted over 3 days with classroom & practical application sessions each morning, followed by training dives at local dive sites. The final training dive is a planned decompression dive with accelerated decompression.

Course Schedule & Cost

PADI Tec 45 Diver courses are conducted through the dive stores that I work with, including VIP Diving. Please check their websites for the most current PADI Tec 45 Diver training schedule and course costs.
