PADI UV Night Diver
Experience night diving like you never have before! Use special UV dive lights on night dives and watch the underwater world explode with flourescent light. See corals and other reef creatures glow, reflecting back wavelengths of light not visible during daylight dives or with conventional dive lights!
Course Prerequisites
• PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Minimum age 12
• Prior night diving training and/or previous logged night diving experience
What You Will Learn
You will learn how to night dive using ultraviolet dive lights with yellow mask filters in place of traditional dive lights, becoming familiarize with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and enjoyment of ultraviolet night diving, including:
• What is the difference between normal white light and ultraviolet light
• What is fluorescence and what causes marine life to fluoresce
• Benefits of ultraviolet night diving
• Ultraviolet night diving procedures and techniques, using ultraviolet dive lights and mask filters, avoiding non-fluorescing objects, corals & other marine life and safety considerations for ultraviolet night diving
• Potential hazards of ultraviolet night diving and how to avoid them
Performance Requirements
PADI UV Night Diver specialty course certification training is typically conducted with a brief classroom theory session, followed by an open water training dive. To achieve certification, you will need to:
• Participate in the classroom training session and complete the UV Night Diver Knowledge Review provided by your instructor.
• Complete (1) UV Night Diver training dive with a PADI UV Night Diver Instructor.
Course Format
PADI UV Night Diver specialty courses are typically conducted in a single evening, including a brief classroom theory session followed by a UV Night dive in open water.
