PADI Tec Basics Diver
Ready to explore the world of technical diving ... but not quite sure if it's for you ?? Start your training with PADI Tec Basics! The PADI Tec Basics course is a no decompression, entry level training course in the PADI Tec Diver training program. Tec Basics is a technical diving program that helps divers master thhe fundamental skills of technical diving before proceeding into decompression dive training. A PADI Tec Basics diver is qualified to:
• Use backmount or sidemount technical diving equipment configurations make no decompression dives with air or nitrox to depths within their current level of training
• Use a single cylinder of air or nitrox for safety or to provide additional bottom time within no decompression limits
NOTE: The PADI Tec Basics course is conducted using equipment that is generally used in open circuit technical diving. Divers planning to continue their technical diving training in the PADI Tec 40, Tec 45 and PADI Tec 50 courses are strongly encouraged to complete the PADI Tec Basics course in the technical diving gear configuration they will use in future training courses.
Course Prerequisites
• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent
• PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver or equivalent
• Minimum age 15
What You Will Learn
During the Tec Basics course, you will learn how to use open circuit backmount or sidemount technical diving gear configurations within accepted recreational depth limits, including:
• Technical diving risks & responsibilities
• Tec Basics equipment requirements
• Tec diving techniques & procedures, including multiple finning techniques, gas shut down procedures, simulated decompression stops and DSMB/lift bag & reel deployment
• Emergency gas sharing procedures
Performance Requirements
PADI Tec Basics course training is typically conducted via PADI eLEarning and 1 practical application session, followed by 2 open water training dives. PADI eLearning includes reading assignments & Knowledge Reviews required to be completed prior to the start of the Tec Basics course. To achieve certification, you will need to:
• Complete the Tec Basics online eLearning materials.
• Complete a brief Quick Review with your Tec Basics instructor at the start of the course.
• Complete the Tec Basics practical application skills with your Tec Basics instructor.
• Complete 2 Tec Basics training dives with your Tec Basics instructor.
Course Format
The PADI Tec Basics course is typically conducted over 1-2 days with a brief classroom session and one practical application session, followed by training dives at local dive sites. The final training dive has a maximum depth of 24m/80ft.
