PADI Drysuit Diver

Extend your diving season! Want to stay warm and toasty on a dive? Then dive dry. Yes! Unlike a wetsuit, a drysuit seals you off from the outside water and that keeps you warm! Even in surprisingly cold water.

Drysuits let you dive more challenging dive sites and extend your dive season. When you have the right cold water diving attire, you can stand up to the elements and take advantage of the generally better visibility offered by winter months—especially at inland dive sites such as quarries, lakes, sinkholes & caves. As a drysuit diver, you’re equipped to scuba dive some of the incredible dive sites in the world’s cooler regions that are best enjoyed in a drysuit even in their warmer months.

Course Prerequisites

• PADI Open Water Diver, PADI Junior Open Water Diver or equivalent

• Minimum age 10

What You Will Learn

Gain the knowledge and skills to safely don, dive with, doff and store a dry-suit. Get introduced to the different types of suits so you can make a very informed decision if considering purchasing a dry suit. You learn ...

• Drysuit buoyancy control skills

• Drysuit maintenance, storage & basic repair

• Undergarment (fleece or overall-type garments worn under the drysuit) options

Performance Requirements

PADI Drysuit Diver specialty course certification training is typically conducted with a classroom & pool session, followed by open water training dives. To achieve certification, you will need to:

• Read the PADI Drysuit Diver manual, watch the PADI Drysuit Diver video and complete the Drysuit Diver Knowledge Review included in your manual.

• Complete a confined water (typically a pool) drysuit skills orientation dive (for divers without prior drysuit diving experience).

• Complete (2) Drysuit Diver training dives with a PADI Drysuit Diver Instructor.

Course Format

PADI Drysuit Diver specialty courses are typically conducted with a classroom session, which includes drysuit sizing, equipment preparation and drysuit handling, followed by a confined water (pool) dive for those divers who do not have previous drysuit diving experience.

There are two training dives, which are typically conducted at local dive sites. Your two Drysuit Diver specialty training dives can be completed in one day.

Course Schedule & Cost

PADI Drysuit Diver specialty courses are conducted through the dive stores that I work with, including VIP Diving. Please check their websites for the most current PADI Drysuit Diver training schedule and course costs.
